Course Description

In this lesson, RW³ CultureWizard and ExecSense examines how to operate successfully in China. After taking the 65 minutes to view this program you will be in a better position to meet the expectations of your partners, colleagues and customers, and understand why it’s necessary to flex your behavior and style—without changing your values–if you want to maximize the potential of your business interactions.

This 9-chapter lesson is led by an expert on the topic, R. Barry Spaulding (Principal – Global Strategies), and focuses on managing Chinese teams, establishing trust and credibility abroad, and leveraging traditional hierarchies in business.

In 65-minutes, executives will learn:

  • What key values impact managerial practices in China, how to identify your specific cultural gaps, and strategies to enhance culture fluency for ongoing success in the Chinese market
  • An overview of the potential macro challenges presented by the Chinese market with an analysis of recent antitrust actions against foreign companies and the impact anti-corruption campaigns
  • How to use cultural values and a gap analysis to take a successful approach in China; why a hierarchical management style is more effective than an egalitarian one
  • Why group dynamics are particularly important in Chinese business and how to use “we” instead of “me” to drive conversation and strategy
  • How to adapt your communications approach to Chinese culture by focusing on harmony and avoiding embarrassment, questioning less, and using gestures to express thoughts
